Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S)

About MTT-S

The IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) is a transnational society with more than 10,500 members and 190 chapters worldwide. Our society promotes the advancement of microwave theory and its applications, including RF, microwave, millimeter-wave, and terahertz technologies.

For more than 60 years, the MTT-S has worked to advance the professional standing of its members and enhance the quality of life for all people through the development and application of microwave technology. As we enter into an exciting future, our mission is to continue to understand and influence microwave technology and to provide a forum for all microwave engineers. The MTT-S will continue to be the global focus for the promotion of the RF and microwave engineering profession, by advancing and distributing knowledge and supporting professional development.

This is an all-volunteer society, driven to excellence by its leadership and with the active participation of all its world-wide members. The activities sponsored by the MTT-S include a broad spectrum of conferences, workshops, tutorials, technical committees, chapter meetings, publications and professional education programs. Our principal publications and conferences are world class, peer-reviewed and recognized as top of the class. Our professional venues provide a great opportunity for networking with experienced innovators, experts, and practitioners. Our volunteer programs provide for the development of critical, non-technical skills that enable you to be more effective professionally.

Benefits of Membership

The IEEE MTT-Society boasts about 11,000 members worldwide. The Society sponsors and organizes regional and international conferences, publishes three periodicals plus various technical books, and supports local chapters of microwave professionals all over the world. Although membership in the Society is not required to attend MTT-S sponsored events nor to gain access to MTT-S publications, active members agree that Society membership provides greater opportunities to influence technology developments and engage in meaningful technical discourse.

PROFESSIONAL NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES

One of the most important benefits of being an MTT-S member is the opportunity it provides for volunteer networking. This is especially true for members who choose to volunteer to support publishing and event organizing. Member volunteers gain opportunities to work and cooperate with other technical professionals outside their own organizations. Through event planning they often interact with microwave experts from all over the world. The contacts they make and information they get from these interactions are often extremely valuable to them as they navigate their career in the microwave industry.

MICROWAVE MAGAZINE

IEEE MTT-S members worldwide receive the Microwave Magazine as part of their member benefit. The award winning magazine is produced 6 times per year and includes peer reviewed technical articles on a wide range of microwave topics. The Magazine provides several services to MTT-S members, including: the dissemination of timely information from the various MTT Committees; the publication of regular columns giving insight into a range of technical and non-technical interests and the publication of technical features that provide overviews and tutorials on the state-of-the-art in a given area. The magazine in a searchable electronic form is also accessible to all MTT-S members via IEEE Xplore.

DISCOUNTS ON IEEE/WILEY BOOKS

Since 2001, IEEE Press has published its works jointly with John Wiley & Sons, bringing the work of IEEE authors to the worldwide technology community. Books are published in many different formats such as e-books, online books, Amazon Kindle and are available through IEEE Xplore, John Wiley’s web site and Amazon as well as other online retail outlets. IEEE Members receive a 15% discount on these titles.

DISCOUNT FOR CONFERENCE REGISTRATION

IEEE members pay reduced registration for most MTT-Society conferences and other organized events. Member registration discounts for the MTT-Society's International Microwave Symposium are typically over 30%. For a member who chooses to participate in several of the conference, workshops, short courses, and social events, the discount on registration fees can be greater than the cost of MTT-Society membership for a year.
